This Health Research Program opportunity is with Dr. Benjamin Sinder, Department of Orthopaedics.
Project Description: Bone is a highly dynamic tissue and your entire skeleton is replaced every ~10 years! Using specialized animal models, we study how bone strength is maintained and also work to develop new treatments for rare bone disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta where patients are at extreme risk of fracture. The selected student will get the opportunity to use a variety of cutting-edge histology, microscopy, microCT imaging, and/or mechanical testing techniques to address these questions. There may be opportunities to focus on certain techniques/aspects of a project depending on the candidate.
