Project Description: Understanding the Role of Interneuron RFWD2 in Depression and Anxiety
Depression frequently co-occurs with anxiety, and the limited understanding of the mechanisms underlying these disorders contributes to the limited effectiveness of currently available antidepressants. RFWD2 has been identified as a risk factor for both conditions, and its protein is expressed in brain regions associated with mood and anxiety regulation.
This study aims to determine whether manipulating RFWD2 in interneurons within the mouse brain contributes to the development of depression and/or anxiety in an Rfwd2 genetic mouse model. The findings from this study will enhance our understanding of the mechanisms driving depression and anxiety.
